Google Talks Tech-Driven ‘One Teacher, One Tab’ Support at Education Forum
Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon held a meeting with senior officials of Google, the tech giant’s education platform representatives, at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre in London, United Kingdom. During the meeting, the issue of Google’s support for implementing the “One Teacher, One Tab” programme received significant attention.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Education World Forum 2026. Representing Google for Education were Pacific Regional Director Colin Marson and Head of Solutions Engineering Oli Trussell.
During the discussion, Google officials highlighted the company’s initiatives to expand the use of technology in education systems across different countries. The meeting also focused on how Google could support the implementation of technology-driven plans in Bangladesh’s education sector.
On Wednesday, May 20, Senior Information Officer of the Ministry of Information Abdullah Shibli Sadik said that the meeting took place on Tuesday, May 19. Earlier, Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon also attended a meeting with Prince Edward on the sidelines of the Education World Forum 2026 at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre in London. Discussions there focused on non-formal education and soft skills development.
The roundtable meeting was attended by Michael Connolly, Director of English and School Education at the British Council, along with education ministers and senior officials from Pakistan’s Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sindh provinces.
During the discussions, Pakistani ministers asked how Bangladesh had achieved significant progress in literacy despite having socio-economic realities similar to Pakistan. In response, the Education Minister said that the “Each One, Teach One” policy introduced by late President Ziaur Rahman played a crucial role in building the foundation for Bangladesh’s literacy advancement.
At the meeting, Prime Minister’s Adviser Mahdi Amin also highlighted the newly elected government’s vision for ensuring quality education. He further elaborated on the “One Teacher, One Tab” initiative.
Participants in the roundtable engaged in open and constructive discussions on shared priorities, existing challenges, and areas of mutual interest regarding teachers’ professional development. They also reviewed potential areas for future cooperation.
