4 Lakh 22 Thousand Postal Ballots Pour In via ‘Postal Vote BD’ App Ahead of National Election

Ahead of the upcoming national parliamentary election, a total of 422,960 postal ballots cast by expatriate voters have reached Bangladesh through the IT-supported ‘Postal Vote BD’ mobile application, which enables voting by expatriates and eligible voters inside the country, followed by submission via postal mail. Of these, 225,168 ballots have already been received by returning officers.

The information was obtained from the updated data of the app as of 10:00 am on Saturday, February 7. An analysis of data from the Bangladesh Election Commission shows that, alongside expatriate voters, internally located postal voters (ICPV) are also actively participating in the process.

According to the data, among Bangladeshi voters residing abroad, 766,862 ballots have reached their destination countries. Of these, 527,033 voters received their ballots, 494,185 completed voting, and 468,091 ballots were submitted at post offices or mailboxes. Subsequently, 422,960 ballots arrived in Bangladesh, while 225,168 ballots have so far reached the respective returning officers.

Meanwhile, among voters residing within the country who applied for postal ballots, 694,146 ballots were dispatched by Bangladesh Post. Of these, 381,007 voters received their ballots, 321,695 completed voting, and 276,272 ballots were deposited at post offices or mailboxes. As of the latest update, 83,942 ballot papers have reached the returning officers.
