SUST Starts First-Year Admissions on Feb 3 with Mandatory Dope Test
The admission process for the first semester of the first year undergraduate programmes at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) will begin on 3 February, the university authorities have announced. As in previous years, all prospective students must undergo a dope test, and admissions will be completed only through physical presence on campus.
The information was disclosed on Monday, 26 January, through a press release issued by the Member Secretary of the Admission Committee.
According to the notice, admission for A-1 (Science) Unit candidates ranked 1 to 500 will take place on 3 February, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Subsequently, on 5 February, candidates ranked 501 to 960 of the same unit will be admitted during the same hours. On the same day, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm, admission for A-2 (Architecture) Unit candidates ranked 1 to 30 will be conducted. Subject allocation will be carried out by calling candidates sequentially according to their merit positions in designated rooms.
After a two-day break, admission for B (Science) Unit candidates ranked 1 to 215 will be held on 8 February, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. On the same day, admission for B (Business Studies) Unit candidates ranked 1 to 82 will take place between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm. The first phase of the admission process will conclude on 9 February, with the admission of B (Humanities) Unit candidates ranked 1 to 284, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The press release further stated that candidates must bring their original SSC and HSC mark sheets, along with one passport-size photograph, at the time of admission. Proof of the candidate’s blood group must also be submitted. However, students who have already been admitted to another educational institution may present an admission confirmation document, fee payment receipt, and photocopies of the original mark sheets instead of the originals.
As in the previous year, the admission fee has been fixed at Tk 14,900. For students who applied to multiple units, once admission is completed in any one unit, only subject change will be required if they are later selected in another unit; no additional admission fee will be charged. Since the Admission Committee will retain the original SSC and HSC mark sheets, students have been advised to keep an adequate number of photocopies for future use.
