Uber Bangladesh has launched the “See to Be Safe” campaign to prioritize driver safety and well-being, aiming to improve road safety by ensuring eye care and access to corrective glasses for transport professionals, the app-based ride-hailing company said.

In a press release, Uber Bangladesh said the campaign is being implemented jointly with VisionSpring, a US-based non-profit social enterprise. As part of the initiative, VisionSpring will provide free eye examinations for Uber drivers in Dhaka and other major cities across the country, along with affordable eyeglasses where needed. The program was launched this week to mark the ninth anniversary of Uber’s operations in Bangladesh.

According to Uber, a significant number of commercial vehicle drivers suffer from various vision-related problems, which directly affect visibility, reaction time, and safe driving. The new initiative is expected to bring a positive change to overall road safety.

Commenting on the initiative, Uber Bangladesh Country Head Nashid Ferdous said, “Road safety is one of Uber’s core priorities. While proper vision is critical for safe driving, it often goes overlooked. Through this collaboration with VisionSpring, we are investing in the health and safety of our driver partners.”

VisionSpring Bangladesh Country Director Misha Mahzabin said, “We are delighted to partner with Uber Bangladesh. This initiative to ensure eye examinations and access to eyeglasses for drivers will play an important role in reducing road accident risks and improving drivers’ earning capacity.”
