bKash–Bishwo Shahitto Kendro Reading Initiative Expanded to Cox’s Bazar
The nationwide reading campaign jointly operated by fintech company bKash and the Bishwo Shahitto Kendro (World Literature Center) has now been expanded to Cox’s Bazar. Aimed at developing reading habits among students and encouraging creative thinking, the programme will distribute 40,000 books to 330 educational institutions across the country this year.
As part of this initiative, books were handed over to 40 quiz-winning students from Cox’s Biam Laboratory School and College, Saikat Girls’ High School, Kalatali Adarsha High School, and Cox’s Bazar Model High School at the Cox’s Bazar BIAM Foundation auditorium.
According to a press release issued on Wednesday, 10 December, the books were recently distributed by Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Md. A. Mannan. Also present were retired secretary and former WSK trustee Khondkar Md. Asaduzzaman, and Saima Ahsan, Vice-President of the Regulatory and Corporate Affairs Department at bKash, among others.
bKash has been associated with the nationwide reading programme since 2014. Under this initiative, around 400,000 books have been distributed so far, benefiting more than 33 lakh readers from nearly 3,000 educational institutions across the country.
