Grameenphone and Glafit Partner for Smart EV Solutions

Grameenphone, a leading telecommunications service provider in Bangladesh, has signed a strategic partnership with Glafit Bangladesh, the local affiliate of Japan’s Glafit Incorporated, to establish smart battery exchange stations and launch IoT-enabled smart meters for electric motorcycles and scooters. Under the agreement, Glafit’s electric vehicle technology will be integrated with Grameenphone’s IoT and digital connectivity solution, “Alo Connect M2M (Machine-to-Machine)” platform.

On Thursday, December 4, a press release announced that Grameenphone’s Chief Business Officer Dr. Asif Naimur Rashid and Glafit’s Chief Executive Officer Teizo Narumi formally signed the memorandum of understanding.

Commenting on the partnership, Dr. Rashid said, “This collaboration is a visionary step to align digital innovation with sustainable mobility. At Grameenphone, we continuously forge partnerships that leverage our advanced ICT and IoT capabilities in real-world applications. Our collaboration with Glafit reflects a commitment to accelerate technological advancement and empower people, businesses, and industries, paving the way for a safer and smarter future for Bangladesh.”

Glafit CEO Teizo Narumi added, “We are excited to bring next-generation vehicle services to Bangladesh through this partnership with Grameenphone. Our goal is to make electric vehicles environmentally friendly, digitally smart, and more accessible and efficient for everyone.”
