Quake Chaos: Ghorashal Fire Knocks Out Key Power Plants
A fire at the Ghorashal electrical substation in Narsingdi—triggered by the earthquake that shook the country this morning—has caused the shutdown of the substation along with seven power plants nationwide.
The power plants that went offline include:

Bibiyana-2 (Summit) – 341 MW

Bibiyana-3 (BPDB) – 400 MW

ST Unit – 134 MW

Ashuganj 225 MW (APSCL) – ST Unit 75 MW

Ashuganj Precision – 55 MW

Ashuganj TSK – 50 MW

SS Power Unit-2 – 600 MW

Sirajganj Unit-1 – 225 MW CCP, ST Unit 75 MW
In addition, due to the fire at the AIS Grid Substation in Ghorashal, all 230 kV, 132 kV, and 33 kV lines, including the Ghorashal SS, are currently without power.
The Power Development Board (PDB) confirmed the information in a statement on Friday, 21 November.
Meanwhile, three deaths have been reported in Narsingdi as a result of the earthquake. More than fifty people have been injured. The deceased are:

Omar (11), son of Delwar from Gabtoli in Narsingdi town

Kazem Ali (75), resident of Malita Westpara, Char Sindur Union, Palash

Nasir Uddin (65), son of Siraj Uddin from Danga Kazirchar, Palash
It is learned that Nasir Uddin died due to cardiac arrest stemming from panic during the quake.
According to sources, a transformer at the Ghorashal Thermal Power Plant substation caught fire during the earthquake, causing extensive damage. Abdus Shahid, Senior Station Officer of Palash Fire Service, said that two fire service units rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control.
