Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has issued new instructions regarding the download of admit cards for the undergraduate pre-selection admission test for the 2025–26 academic year, making the submission of departmental preferences mandatory.

According to a notice published on BUET’s official website, eligible applicants will not be able to download their admit cards without completing the departmental option form. The university has already published the list of eligible candidates, and admit cards will be made available for download shortly.

The list of qualified applicants was released earlier on Wednesday, 17 December.

The notice states that candidates must fill in their departmental preferences at the time of downloading the admit card. Once submitted, these preferences cannot be changed. Without completing this option form, the admit card will not be issued.

Earlier, BUET published its admission circular on 27 October. As per the schedule, the admission test will be held on 10 January, with examinations for Module ‘A’ and Module ‘B’ conducted in two shifts—morning and afternoon.

This year, there will be no preliminary screening test. Admission will be based solely on the written examination, though candidates will still be required to appear in a viva voce, as in previous years.

The notice further mentions that the application fee has been set at Tk 1,300 and Tk 1,500 for different categories, including engineering departments, the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, and architecture-related programmes. The provisional merit list, along with the names of selected and waiting candidates, is scheduled to be published on 7 February.
