Mobile Mafia Gang Nabbed in Gulistan with Stolen Mobile Phones

In a raid conducted in Dhaka’s Gulistan area, the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Wari Division, recovered 103 stolen mobile phones and arrested 10 active members of the syndicate.

The detainees have been identified as Md. Abdul Mannan (50), Md. Siam Mia (18), Md. Abdur Rahman (18), Md. Saju Mia (21), Md. Abdullah Ibne Al Maksud Arafat (20), Nazmul Islam (18), Md. Abdul (18), Md. Rakib (18), Md. Rezaul Haque (55), and Md. Ashraful (19).

Among the recovered devices, 68 were Android phones and 35 were feature phones, according to Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Talebur Rahman of DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division.

Quoting the Detective Branch, he said: “On Saturday, August 30, the suspects were arrested in a raid at Gulistan in the capital. The arrestees used to purchase stolen mobile phones from muggers and thieves at low prices and sell them at higher rates. Preliminary investigation confirms that they are active members of the mobile theft syndicate.”

He further added that “legal proceedings against the detainees are currently underway.”
