The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the 13th National Parliament has recommended implementing rooftop solar power projects across mosques nationwide to ensure energy efficiency. The recommendation was made on Tuesday (October 6) during the committee's maiden meeting chaired by Committee Chairman Rafiqul Islam Jamal at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

The meeting reviewed the 180-day action plan, budgetary allocations, and operations of the ministry, Hajj management, the Islamic Foundation, the Bangladesh Waqf Administration, and religious welfare trusts. Following presentation and discussions, the committee called for formulating clear guidelines on power usage in mosques alongside adopting solar initiatives.

Furthermore, the committee advocated for a transparent policy regarding individuals going on Hajj at government expense. To enhance healthcare services, it also recommended the prompt transfer of doctors and staff who have been stationed at Islamic Foundation hospitals and medical missions for prolonged periods. Committee members including Azharul Islam Mannan and Md. Zahidur Rahman attended the meeting alongside senior officials.
