Sony officially launched its latest FX5 Cinema Line camera in Bangladesh on Friday (August 21) at the InterContinental Hotel Dhaka under the theme ‘Lighting the Way Forward’. The launch event brought together professionals from the country’s photography, filmmaking, and media industries.

The launch was attended by Mr. Joshua Quek, Country Director of Sony Bangladesh, and Vincent Tay, Manager of CPRO & Lens Marketing RMDC at Sony Electronics Singapore Ltd., alongside other key officials.

Built around a newly developed full-frame stacked Exmor RS CMOS image sensor paired with the BIONZ XR2 engine, the FX5 delivers over 15 stops of dynamic range in S-Log3 and offers triple base ISO settings of 800, 4000, and 12,800. For the first time in the FX series, it supports Open Gate 3:2 shooting and internal 16-bit X-OCN RAW recording, capable of shooting 5K at 60fps, 4K at 120fps, and FHD at 240fps.

The FX5 features AI-driven human pose estimation for precise subject tracking, 5-axis in-body image stabilization, and a 3.5-inch 4-axis articulating touchscreen. Two companion accessories were also introduced: the DVF-EL1 OLED viewfinder and the XLR-H2 audio handle supporting 32-bit float 96 kHz recording.

Acclaimed cinematographer Claudio Miranda (Top Gun: Maverick) and director Gareth Edwards praised the FX5 for combining cinema-grade image quality with high mobility. In Bangladesh, the Sony FX5 is priced at BDT 6,20,000 and comes with an 18-month warranty serviced through Sony Singapore.
