Lottery Process Adopted to Ensure Transparency and Discipline Across 8 Divisions
254 PWD Sub-Assistant Engineers Transferred via Lottery System

3 August, Monday: A total of 254 Sub-Assistant Engineers (E/M) of the Public Works Department (PWD) were transferred and posted across the country using a transparent lottery system. The allocation process took place on Monday at the conference room of Purta Bhaban in Segunbagicha, Dhaka.
Based on the lottery outcome, 119 engineers were posted to offices under Dhaka Division, 27 to Rajshahi Division, 27 to Chittagong Division, 27 to Khulna Division, 22 to Rangpur Division, 13 to Barisal Division, 11 to Mymensingh Division, and 8 to Sylhet Division.
The lottery proceedings were coordinated by Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Md. Sarwar Alam. Highlighting the initiative, PWD Additional Chief Engineer (E/M) Ashraful Haq stated that this lottery-based mechanism will establish transparency, neutrality, and operational discipline in transfer-posting procedures.
Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Member Secretary of the Diploma Engineers Association (PWD Branch), welcomed the move, noting that it will restore administrative order and fairness within the department.
The event was attended by PWD Chief Engineer Md. Khalequzzaman Chowdhury, Additional Chief Engineer Kazi Md. Firoz Hasan, Joint Secretary Mohammad Mijanur Rahman, Joint Secretary Fauzia Khan, Deputy Secretary Khan Md. Najmus Shoieb, and Deputy Secretary Md. Abu Naser, alongside other senior officials.
Earlier on July 30, a total of 767 Sub-Assistant Engineers (Civil) of the department were similarly transferred through a lottery system.
