Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has unveiled a commemorative postage stamp marking National Rural Development Day 2026, to be observed under the theme, "Developed Villages, Prosperous Nation; Bangladesh First."
At the inauguration ceremony, a commemorative postage stamp with a face value of Tk 10 was officially released. A first-day cover and a data card with a face value of Tk 5 were also unveiled.
The Bangladesh Post Office issues commemorative postage stamps, first-day covers, and data cards each year to mark significant national occasions. As part of this tradition, the Prime Minister inaugurated the special stamp at a ceremony held at the Prime Minister's Office in the Secretariat on Sunday, July 5.
Confirming the launch of the special commemorative stamp earlier in the day, Prime Minister's Press Secretary Md. Sujauddoula said the Prime Minister unveiled the stamp under the theme, "Developed Villages, Prosperous Nation; Bangladesh First."
Among those present at the ceremony were Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir; State Minister of the same ministry Mir Shahe Alam; Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Md. Shahidul Hasan; Post and Telecommunications Secretary Bilkis Jahan Rimi; and Director General of the Department of Posts Kazi Asadul Islam.
Senior officials of the Department of Posts also attended the event.
National Rural Development Day will be observed across the country on Monday, July 6. The initiative aims to recognize contributions to rural development and the rural economy while raising public awareness about the significance of the day.
