HSC and equivalent examinations begin July 2; 2,697 centres brought under CCTV surveillance with central monitoring
CCTV Monitoring, Body-Worn Cameras Introduced at All HSC Exam Centres
The 2026 HSC and equivalent examinations will begin on July 2 with enhanced security measures. All 2,697 examination centres across Bangladesh have been equipped with CCTV cameras, while a central monitoring cell at the Ministry of Education will oversee the examinations. Police officers on duty will also wear body cameras.
The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations for 2026 will begin on Thursday (July 2) with heightened security and monitoring measures across the country.
Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday (July 1), Education and Primary & Mass Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon said CCTV cameras have been installed at all 2,697 examination centres, enabling real-time monitoring from a dedicated control room at the Ministry of Education.
He said examinations under the country's nine general education boards will be held using a common question paper. Police officers assigned to examination centres will also wear body-worn cameras to help prevent irregularities and ensure transparency.
According to the minister, examinations in 77 subjects will be completed over 21 days. Regular academic classes will continue at educational institutions on days when no examinations are scheduled.
The ministry also disclosed that a total of 1,270,583 candidates will sit for this year's HSC and equivalent examinations under 11 education boards, including nine general education boards, the Madrasah Education Board and the Technical Education Board.
Of them, 1,069,714 candidates are from the nine general boards, 92,905 from the Madrasah Board and 107,964 from the Technical Board.
The total number of male candidates is 621,969, while female candidates number 648,614. Examinations will be conducted at 2,697 centres involving 9,439 educational institutions nationwide.
The press conference was also attended by Prime Minister's Education Adviser Mahdi Amin, Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Abdul Khaleque, and senior officials of the ministry.
