New executive committee vows to strengthen science, technology and nuclear journalism
Shamima Elected President, Shariful Secretary of Atomic Reporters Banglades
Atomic Reporters Bangladesh has elected its new executive committee for the 2026–2028 term. Shamima Sultana has been elected President, while A. K. M. Shariful Islam will serve as Secretary.
Atomic Reporters Bangladesh (ARB), an organisation of journalists covering science, technology and nuclear affairs, has elected its new executive committee for the 2026–2028 term.
On Tuesday, June 30, at a restaurant in Karwan Bazar, Dhaka, the organisation held its executive committee election.
Channel 24 Senior Reporter Shamima Sultana (Labu) was elected President, while A. K. M. Shariful Islam, Editor of science, technology, nuclear and energy news portal Vital Bangla, was elected Secretary.
The election results were announced by Chief Election Commissioner Mursalin Haque Junayed, General Secretary of TMGB. Election Commissioners were Abdullah Al Mamun, Public Relations Officer at the Ministry of Science and Technology, and DBC News Staff Reporter Fazle Rabbi Saurav.
Other elected office bearers include Vice President Abul Kalam Azad (BBC Bangla), Joint Secretary Jahed Selim (Machranga Television), Organising Secretary Shah Ali Joy (News24 Television), Treasurer Mahmudul Hasan (Star News), Office Secretary Ashraful Islam Rana and Communication, Training and Research Secretary Faruk Bhuiyan Robin (Somoy Television).
The executive committee members are Ariful Sazzat (Channel 71), Debashish Roy (Somoy Television) and Md. Mujahirul Haque Rumen (Channel 71).
Speaking after the election, President Shamima Sultana thanked the members for their confidence and said ARB would work to strengthen networks with national and international experts in science, technology and nuclear affairs while promoting the peaceful use of nuclear technology for national development.
