Freshers and Farewell Festivities Held at JUST’s FMB Department

The Department of Fisheries and Marine Bioscience (FMB) at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) organized a vibrant Freshers’ Reception and Farewell Ceremony, featuring floral greetings for newcomers, commemorative crests for outgoing students, and a colourful cultural programme.

The event took place on Sunday, 23 November, at the Professor Mohammad Sharif Hossain Gallery of the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam Academic Building. JUST Treasurer Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun attended as the chief guest.

In his address, Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun said that the university not only imparts academic knowledge but also guides students onto the right path. Alongside textbooks, students must shape themselves into honest, competent, humane individuals capable of contributing meaningfully to society. He urged students to uphold responsibility, discern right from wrong, maintain integrity, express their thoughts effectively, and cultivate the mindset to work for the welfare of all—qualities that earn true respect.

Addressing the new students, the Treasurer highlighted the contemporary importance of the FMB curriculum. He encouraged them to work hard to stand out, uphold honesty and equality, set personal goals early, and use their time wisely. He noted that they would represent the university on the global stage.

Chaired by FMB Department Chairman Professor Dr. Md. Aminur Rahman, the ceremony was also addressed by the Dean of the Faculty of Biological Science and Technology, Professor Dr. Md. Sirajul Islam, and FMB Professor Dr. Md. Anichur Rahman. Faculty members and students of the department were present. The event was conducted by FMB students Shariful Hossain, Laboni Islam, Akhtaruzzaman, and Saderita Sarkar Shoshi.

In the evening, a delightful cultural programme was staged by the students.
