Annie Alleges Awami League Using AI to Stage Lockdown Scenes
BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie has alleged that the Awami League is using artificial intelligence to create fake images depicting people observing lockdowns, as in reality, “no one is there during their lockdown.”
He made the remarks on Thursday, October 13, while speaking as the chief guest at a freshmen reception program at Janata Degree College in Lakshmipur.
Addressing the gathering on the college grounds in Charshahi Union under Sadar Upazila, Annie said, “Some unruly and intoxicated youths are secretly organizing flash processions on the main roads at dawn, setting fire to buses in exchange for money, taking pictures, and then posting them on Facebook. Yet their leader had once declared that anyone setting fire to buses would be thrown into the fire themselves. But now she is gone. Before fleeing, she sent all her relatives abroad.”
Annie further said, “During Hasina’s rule, many of our leaders and activists have been attacked and implicated in cases. Numerous families have suffered enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings. Since independence, the Awami League has thrived on corruption, misrule, and politicized violence. They once controlled the Mujib Bahini and the Rakkhi Bahini.”
The event was also attended by Shabbir Mahmud, founding member and former president of the governing body of Janata Degree College; acting principal Bellal Hossain; district BNP member Anwar Hossain Bachchu; former president of the district Sramik Dal, Abul Hashem; and district Chhatra Dal president Hasan Mahmud Ibrahim as special guests.
