The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has withdrawn its IT wing member Billal Hossain Faisal for one month following his proven involvement in the recent assault on journalists at the party chairperson’s Gulshan office.

A one-member inquiry committee found Faisal guilty of attacking several reporters, including Jahidul Islam of Amar Desh. As a result, he has been suspended from all activities of the party’s IT section for the entire month of November and will not be allowed to work in any BNP office during that period.

The decision was announced through a press release signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Thursday, October 23. The statement said, “Disciplinary action has been taken against a party member for assaulting, scuffling, and harassing several journalists, including Amar Desh reporter Jahidul Islam.”

It further stated that the BNP had formed a one-member inquiry committee led by Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury to investigate the incident. Based on the committee’s report, action was taken against Faisal, a member of the IT section at the BNP chairperson’s office.

Earlier, on October 19, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed regret over the incident.
