E-Passport Service Launched at Bangladesh Embassy in Morocco

For the first time, e-passport services have been launched at the Embassy of Bangladesh in Rabat, Morocco. The service was inaugurated on Saturday, September 20, making it the 64th diplomatic mission to introduce e-passport facilities.
As a result, Bangladeshi expatriates living in Morocco and neighboring countries will now have access to improved, faster, and more secure consular services.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Ambassador Sadia Faizunnesa. The event was attended by Major General Md. Nurul Anwar, Director General of the Department of Passports and Immigration, as the chief guest. Special guests included Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Mohammad Abu Nayeem and Lt. Colonel Mohammad Faisal, Deputy Director of the e-Passport Project.
In his speech, Major General Nurul Anwar highlighted the measures taken by the Department of Passports and Immigration to address various passport-related challenges faced by expatriates. He stated, “Different initiatives are being implemented to improve passport services and to build a positive perception of the department.”
Ambassador Sadia Faizunnesa remarked that the launch of the e-passport service has opened “a new horizon for providing modern, secure, and efficient services to expatriates.” She added that the embassy, despite limited manpower, has been working diligently not only in Morocco but also in Ghana, Guinea, Senegal, and Sierra Leone. The embassy, she noted, is striving tirelessly not only to enhance bilateral relations but also to ensure the welfare of expatriates and the effective delivery of consular services.
She assured that the embassy will continue working to resolve the challenges faced by expatriates, including geographical distances across Moroccan cities and the difficulties of undocumented migrants.
Expatriates welcomed the introduction of the e-passport service and participated spontaneously in a question-and-answer session. It is expected that the launch will make consular services more accessible for Bangladeshi expatriates living in Morocco and other countries under the embassy’s jurisdiction.
