Bangladesh Dismisses Reports of UAE Visa Ban

Several Bangladeshi media outlets and social media posts have claimed that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has imposed a visa ban on Bangladesh. However, the Press Wing of the Chief Adviser’s Office of the interim government has dismissed the reports as false.

In a Facebook post published late on Saturday, September 20, the Press Wing clarified the matter.

The post stated that a number of reports cited an article published on September 17 on a private visa processing website, UAE Visa Online. The article claimed that an immigration circular had imposed visa restrictions on nine countries across Asia and Africa, including Bangladesh. The Press Wing asserted that this claim is “false.”

According to the Press Wing, “Bangladesh’s Ambassador to the UAE, Tarek Ahmed, has made it clear that no such notification has been received from the Emirati authorities.”

Ambassador Tarek Ahmed said the post may have been a “malicious attempt” by the visa center itself.

He further noted that September 20 and 21 are public holidays in the UAE, and the embassy will reach out to the UAE government on September 22 to verify the matter further through official channels.

The Press Wing emphasized that the visa ban claim originated from a private visa website, and the publication of reports without verification has caused unnecessary confusion.
