Intel’s CEO Tan to Take Trip to the White House

Intel Chief Executive Lip-Bu Tan will visit the White House next Monday, according to The Wall Street Journal. Citing sources familiar with the matter, the report stated that Tan will hold an extended discussion with President Donald Trump, during which he will share details of his personal and professional background and propose avenues for collaboration between Intel and the U.S. government, Reuters reported.

Last week, Trump publicly called for Tan’s immediate resignation, accusing him of being “overly involved” with Chinese companies. The president’s intervention has sparked debate among investors.

A previous Reuters investigation revealed that Tan had invested at least $200 million in over 100 advanced manufacturing and chip companies in China, some of which are linked to the Chinese military.

Born in Malaysia to Chinese parents, the U.S.-based executive served as CEO of Cadence Design Systems from 2008 to 2021. Last month, Cadence agreed to pay over $140 million to settle U.S. allegations.
