AI Ambition: OpenAI Set to Launch New Web Browser
OpenAI, the artificial intelligence research company behind ChatGPT, is preparing to launch a new web browser that aims to challenge Google Chrome's dominance in the market, according to a report by Reuters.
Sources familiar with the development said the browser is expected to roll out in the coming weeks and will bring a fundamental shift in internet browsing by leveraging artificial intelligence.
The browser will reportedly feature a native chat interface similar to ChatGPT and integrate AI agents capable of performing various tasks on behalf of the user. This move is part of OpenAI's broader strategy to expand its services by gathering insights directly from user web behavior.
Currently, Google Chrome has more than 3 billion users and holds over two-thirds of the global browser market share. OpenAI’s new browser will be built on Chromium code. Analysts believe this innovation could put significant pressure on Google's advertising business.
