Grand Finale of 'IPEspear Season-2' Held at SUST: 196 Teams from 34 Varsities Battle

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) hosted the Grand Finale of 'IPEspear Season-2', organized by the Department of Industrial and Production Engineering (IPE), featuring 196 teams from 34 universities. On Saturday (September 19) at 10:00 AM, SUST Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor G M Rabiul Islam inaugurated the day-long event by cutting a cake at Academic Building 'C'.

The opening session was attended by Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) Vice-Chancellor Professor Engr. Muhammad Iqbal, IPE Distinguished Professor Mostafizur Rahman, Department Head Professor Abu Hayat Mithu, Professor Dr. Abul Mukid Mohammad Mokaddes, and Professor Dr. Abul Anam Rashed.

Organizing Committee Coordinator Professor Dr. Nasima Begum noted that the event aims to foster entrepreneurship and technical excellence among university students. The national competition was structured around three categories: Business Case, Innovation Challenge, and Computer-Aided Design (CAD).

According to the organizers, 107 teams registered in Business Case, 44 in Innovation Challenge, and 45 in CAD Competition during the initial round. Following screening phases, 10 teams in Business Case, 7 in Innovation Challenge, and 10 in CAD secured spots in the Grand Finale. A total of 9 winning teams—top three from each segment—will be awarded at the conclusion of the event.
