685 Patients Treated at Bangladesh Medical University OPD
Despite the holidays of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, a total of 685 patients received medical services at the outpatient departments of Bangladesh Medical University on March 19. Services were provided at Outpatient Department 1 and Outpatient Department 2 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. At the same time, necessary diagnostic test services were also offered to patients.
It has been learned that these diagnostic services were arranged by various departments under the Faculty of Basic Science and Paraclinical Science. On holidays, X-ray and CT scan facilities remain available under the initiative of the Department of Radiology and Imaging. During the holidays, the hospital’s indoor and emergency departments also remain open as per regular practice.
On the day, the Director of Bangladesh Medical University Hospital, Brigadier General Irteka Rahman, Deputy Director (Hospital) Dr. Mohammad Abu Naser, Assistant Director (Hospital) Md. Mahbubul Haque Sarkar, among others, inspected the outpatient medical services and diagnostic activities.
Following the inspection, Brigadier General Irteka Rahman stated that around 500 personnel, including doctors, nurses, officers, and staff, are participating in this commendable initiative of providing consultations and treatment at the outpatient department, as well as completing necessary diagnostic tests for patients, on Thursday, March 19 and Sunday, March 22. Additionally, to ensure the continuation of indoor and emergency services, approximately 500 medical personnel, including doctors and nurses, are on duty. The outpatient department will also remain open on Sunday, March 22.
Meanwhile, the Eid congregation for Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 will be held at 8:00 am on Eid day at the central Jame Mosque premises of Bangladesh Medical University.
On the joyous occasion of Eid, arrangements have been made to serve improved quality meals for patients, marking the spirit of sharing happiness during the largest religious festival.
Furthermore, the post-Eid reunion will be held on Tuesday, March 24, from 8:30 am to 10:30 am. On the same day (March 24, 2026), the university offices will reopen as per regular schedule.
