Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) observed World Cleanup Day 2026 on Saturday (September 19) through awareness discussions, a rally, and a campus-wide cleanliness campaign. The events were organized by the campus environmental organization 'Green BAU–Clean BAU' in front of the central library premises.

Chaired by the organization's President Professor Dr. M. Ariful Islam, BAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam Sardar attended the program as the chief guest. The day commenced with a discussion on the significance of World Cleanup Day, followed by an awareness rally themed 'My Campus - My Responsibility'. Later, students and faculty members participated in a cleanliness drive across key campus areas.

Speaking as the chief guest, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam Sardar emphasized that a single day's effort is insufficient to maintain a clean campus, calling for continuous and coordinated initiatives. He advised students not to rely solely on support staff but to cultivate personal habits of cleanliness in their rooms, halls, gardens, and surroundings.

Professor Dr. M. Ariful Islam added that the initiative aims to instill a lasting habit of hygiene and responsibility among university members rather than serving as a symbolic one-day event.

The program was attended by BAU Student Affairs Advisor Professor Dr. G. M. Mujibar Rahman, Sonali Dal President Professor Dr. Md. Hammadur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science Professor Dr. Md. Bahanur Rahman, Proctor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Alim, Associate Student Affairs Advisor Professor Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam, along with hall provosts and students. Notably, the United Nations officially recognized September 20 as 'World Cleanup Day' starting in 2024. //DBTech/AHB/MPO/SME//
