Police have arrested teacher and content creator Rakibul Alam Mamun in Kumarkhali, Kushtia. He has been accused of creating obscene content and engaging in activities allegedly inconsistent with professional teaching ethics. Police, however, said he was arrested in connection with a case over the August 5 incident and is also being questioned about the alleged obscene content.

Mamun was arrested from the Garai Bridge area on the outskirts of Kumarkhali town on Tuesday evening, September 15, 2026.

He is the joint general secretary of the Kumarkhali upazila unit of the Jubo Volunteer League and an assistant teacher at Jaduboyra Secondary School.

NCP activists filed a written complaint against Mamun with the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and the Upazila Secondary Education Officer on Tuesday afternoon. The complaint alleged that he had created obscene content and engaged in activities contrary to the ethical standards expected of a teacher. Alamin Hossain Akash, member secretary of the upazila NCP, confirmed the complaint.

According to local accounts, Mamun had been active in Awami League politics alongside his teaching career. After the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, 2024, he began creating content on various topics for Facebook. He subsequently gained popularity as a content creator and developed a following in different areas.

According to allegations and local accounts, he would gather men and women of different ages at his home and in various locations across Kumarkhali to create content.

Jamal Uddin, officer-in-charge of Kumarkhali Police Station, said Mamun had an active role in the August 5 incident and was arrested in that case. He added that police were also questioning him about the alleged creation of obscene content and that further details would be provided later.
