Instagram Influencer Arrested for Pornography

The Cyber and Special Crime (South) Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) has arrested an Instagram influencer named Sumaiya Saeed (25) from the capital on charges of creating, promoting, and selling pornographic content on social media. Her key accomplice, Khawaja Saklain Farooq, was also arrested during the operation. Furthermore, Sumaiya’s father, Md. Abu Saeed, has been named as an accused in the case for consenting to and accepting money derived from his daughter's illicit activities. 

According to DB sources, officers flagged explicit content and promotional ads on Sumaiya's Instagram and Telegram handles during routine cyber monitoring on August 10. Investigation revealed that the ring sold explicit photos and videos through mobile banking channels such as bKash and Nagad, offering deals like a "Lifetime Package" for BDT 3,500.  

Using technological tracking, DB conducted a raid on a flat in the Bashundhara Residential Area on the night of August 11, arresting Sumaiya. Officers seized an iPhone 17 Pro Max and a OnePlus smartphone from her possession. Based on information provided by Sumaiya, DB later raided 'Dhaka Popular Travels' in Badda and arrested her prime accomplice, Khawaja Saklain Farooq. 

Initial interrogation revealed that Sumaiya operated the network with several accomplices. Shockingly, her father was fully aware of these illegal activities but chose not to stop her, regularly taking a share of the proceeds.

A case has been filed with Ramna Model Police Station under the Pornography Control Act, 2012. Police have submitted a three-day remand prayer in court to uncover the full extent of the racket and arrest the remaining absconding suspects.
