Robi Axiata PLC completed a comprehensive network modernization across Greater Dhaka, deploying advanced telecom engineering to elevate regional connectivity standards. The achievement was detailed on Wednesday (August 19, 2026) at Robi's corporate office in Tejgaon, Dhaka. The initiative implemented next-generation "Giga Green 4G/5G-ready" infrastructure, establishing an energy-efficient network footprint.

Robi Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Perihan Elhamy Ahmed Metweh presented the technical framework at the event. Postal, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam, Prime Minister's Telecom and ICT Adviser Rehan Asif Asad, BTRC Chairman Major General (Retd.) Md. Emdad Ul Bari, and Robi Managing Director and CEO Ziad Shatara attended the ceremony.

The operator upgraded over 4,800 sites across Dhaka, Gazipur, Savar, Manikganj, and Narayanganj. The transformation generated up to a 125 percent boost in user experience, a 20 percent reduction in call drops, and a three-fold improvement in indoor coverage. Furthermore, operational energy consumption per gigabyte declined by 20 percent, supporting digital services for Robi’s youth brand, 'Circle'.

Robi MD and CEO Ziad Shatara stated that Dhaka now hosts Robi's strongest network, with Chittagong upgrades concluding soon. He requested regulatory and ministerial support to secure site locations in dense urban zones.

Since its 2020 stock market listing, Robi has invested over BDT 9,331 crore in network expansion, scaling its 4G sites to 19,646 and increasing spectrum 3.4-fold to 124 MHz. Following a BDT 721.6 crore capital expenditure in Q2 2026, Robi’s 4G coverage now spans 98.98 percent of Bangladesh's population.
