Science passes 80.64%, vocational education records 58.20%

Dhaka, August 10: The pass rate in the science group stood at 80.64 percent in this year’s Secondary School Certificate and equivalent examinations, while the SSC and Dakhil Vocational examinations under the Bangladesh Technical Education Board recorded a 58.20 percent pass rate.

A total of 566,958 students appeared in the science group under nine general education boards, with 457,188 students successfully passing the examination. The overall pass rate in the group was 80.64 percent.

Jashore Education Board recorded the highest pass rate in science at 86.90 percent. Dhaka Board followed with an 85.90 percent pass rate.

The technical education sector, however, saw a sharp decline. The average pass rate in SSC and Dakhil Vocational examinations was 58.20 percent this year, compared with 73.63 percent last year.

A total of 3,951 vocational students secured GPA-5 this year. The significant decline in the pass rate has raised fresh questions about the quality of secondary-level technical education, assessment methods and students’ practical skills.

Overall, the pass rate in this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations was 62.25 percent. Of the 1,829,485 candidates, 1,138,847 students passed. A total of 116,676 students secured GPA-5.

Among the nine general education boards, the overall highest pass rate was recorded by Dhaka Board at 71.63 percent. Jashore ranked second with 66.27 percent, followed by Cumilla with 65.42 percent.

The results come at a time when scientific knowledge, technological literacy and practical skills are becoming increasingly important for higher education and employment. The performance of science and technical education therefore carries significance beyond examination statistics.

The official result publication ceremony was inaugurated at 10am on Monday at the Education Ministry’s conference room by Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milan. Results were published simultaneously through educational institutions and online platforms.

How to Get Results
Via Websites: All educational institutions must collect results related to the examination board from https://eduboardresults.gov.bd and https://educationboardresults.gov.bd.

Visit the official education board website, educationboardresults.gov.bd, select "SSC/Dakhil" from the Examination option. Choose the exam year from the "Year" option. Then, select your specific board and accurately enter your roll number and registration number. Finally, complete the security captcha (e.g., 3+5 = 8) and click the "Submit" button.

SSC results can also be obtained via SMS. You can receive results by sending an SMS to 16140 or 16222 from your mobile number.

To do this, go to your mobile's message option, type SSC, then a space, followed by the first three letters of your board in English, then a space, and your roll number. After that, type a space, the exam year, and send it to 16140. (Example: SSC Dha 123456 2026 Send to 16140). The results will be sent back in a reply message.

Madrasa: Madrasa students must pre-register first. The pre-registration method is Dakhil.

Vocational: To get results via SMS, type SSC Board name (first 3 Letters) Roll Year and send it to 16222. Example: SSC TEC 123456 2026 to 16222.

Candidates can also collect their exam results from their respective educational institutions. No results will be available at the education board, Ministry of Education, or newspaper offices.

Institution-Based Results
To get institution-based result sheets, you must visit the board's website. Then, click on the "Result Corner" and enter the institution's EIIN (Educational Institute Identification Number). This will allow you to download the result sheet for that educational institution.

This year's SSC and equivalent examinations began on April 21 and theoretical exams concluded on May 20. Practical exams were held from June 7 to June 14. A total of 1,857,344 candidates participated under 11 education boards across the country this year. Among them, 930,305 were male students and 927,039 were female students.
