CUET Holds Exchange Meeting with Australia’s Murdoch University for MoU

9 August, Sunday: Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) held an exchange meeting with representatives from Murdoch University, Australia, to finalize terms for a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The meeting took place today, Sunday (August 9) at 11:00 AM inside the CUET Syndicate Room.  

The session was chaired by CUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Abu Sadat Muhammad Sayem. Key attendees representing CUET included Dean of Electrical & Computer Engineering Prof. Dr. Kazi Delwar Hossain, Dean of Civil & Environmental Engineering Prof. Dr. Asiful Hoque, Dean of Science & Technology Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abu Kawsar, Dean of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, Registrar (Additional Charge) Prof. Dr. Sheikh Md. Humayun Kabir, EEE Department Head Prof. Dr. Tofael Ahmed, CSE Department Head Prof. Dr. Pranab Kumar Dhar, Prof. Dr. Kaushik Deb, and Civil Engineering Prof. Dr. G. M. Sadiqul Islam.  

The delegation from Murdoch University featured Dr. G. M. Shafiullah, Professor of Electrical Engineering at the School of Engineering and Energy; Dr. Ferdous Sohel, Professor at the School of Information Technology; and Jasdeep Sandhu, In-Country Manager for Murdoch University. The proposed MoU aims to establish joint research initiatives and collaborative doctoral degree programs between the two institutions.  

Following the exchange session, CUET’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) organized a specialized workshop titled "Machine Learning and Its Translation in Agriculture, Health and Environment Research" at the Operating System Lab.  

Addressing the workshop as the Chief Guest, CUET VC Prof. Dr. Abu Sadat Muhammad Sayem stated, "Students must leverage their talent to reach top positions and build a new Bangladesh. In this era of globalization, students need to think globally as the future depends on their effort. No modern digitalization effort can materialize without CSE graduates, and we are committed to elevating CUET to global standards."  

Professor Dr. Ferdous Sohel of Murdoch University served as the key resource person for the workshop. Chaired by CSE Department Head Prof. Dr. Pranab Kumar Dhar, the event was attended by Dean Prof. Dr. Kazi Delwar Hossain, IICT Director Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, and other faculty members. The workshop was moderated by CSE Lecturer Saimum Hossain Sohan.
