GAU advances to 401-600th globally; ranks 66th in Zero Hunger and 82nd in No Poverty

Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) has secured the top position among all public universities in Bangladesh in the THE Sustainability Impact Rankings 2026.
Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) has secured the first position among all public universities in Bangladesh in the newly published Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Rankings 2026. Globally, the university has climbed to the 401-600th band. Released on Wednesday (June 24), this year's index evaluated 1,646 universities across 116 countries and regions, featuring 9 public universities from Bangladesh.
Based on the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), GAU ranked 82nd globally in SDG 1 (No Poverty) with a score of 74.8 and 66th in SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) with a score of 78.3. Additionally, it placed within the 101-200th group in SDG 4 (Quality Education).
This marks a massive leap from its previous global positioning of 801-1000th last year.
According to university sources, the institution has consistently excelled in multiple international metrics recently. GAU is the only public university in Bangladesh to rank 23rd among the global top 100 in the Financial Impact Driven Transfer Technology category of the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2026.
Furthermore, it topped national agricultural institutions in the QS World University Sustainability Rankings 2026. Expressing his reaction, GAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman credited this success to the combined efforts of faculty, researchers, and students, stating that this recognition reinforces their commitment to contributing to global sustainable development goals.
