Govt Launching Online Tracking System to Reduce Pension Sufferings

The government is launching the 'Online Pension Tracking and Management System' (OPTMS) to reduce long-standing sufferings and harassment in pension applications and sanctioning processes. Through this system, pensioners can digitally submit applications, track their file progress, and manage required procedures online.

According to reports on Wednesday, June 24, State Minister for Public Administration and Food, Mo. Abdul Bari, made this announcement yesterday as the chief guest at a workshop held in the conference room of the Ministry of Public Administration at the Secretariat. Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Mo. Ehsanul Hoque, presided over the workshop, while Finance Division Secretary Dr. Md. Khairuzzaman Mozumder and Comptroller and Auditor General S M Rezvi were present as special guests.

The State Minister stated that once OPTMS is fully operational, it will minimize delays, procedural complexities, and unnecessary office visits for retired government employees. Getting services online without physically visiting government offices will act as a powerful tool to curb corruption.

Officials noted that under the new system, employees will receive an SMS notification about 11 months before their Post-Retirement Leave (PRL). OPTMS will pull service records and financial data directly from iBAS++, reducing manual data entry errors. Initially, the system will be piloted at the Ministry of Public Administration before being expanded to all ministries and field offices. Positive discussions were also held regarding the review of policies for 100% pension surrenderers and the implementation of a 'One Rank One Pension' system.
