Government Plans 'Math Labs' in Primary Schools
State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj announced government plans to gradually establish 'Math Labs' in primary schools to make mathematics more engaging and tech-driven.
The government is planning to phase in "Math Labs" across primary schools nationwide to make mathematics education more engaging and technology-driven, similar to science laboratories.
State Minister for Primary and Mass Education, Bobby Hajjaj, shared this vision on Wednesday (June 24) during a courtesy meeting with a high-level Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) delegation, led by JICA Bangladesh Chief Representative Takahashi Junko at the Secretariat.
The State Minister emphasized that JICA's technical support, training, and consultation will be vital in implementing these tech-driven transformations.
Minister Bobby Hajjaj noted that the government is designing a new primary education curriculum, prioritizing civic education, sports, culture, math, and science for grades four and five to secure a vibrant learning environment.
He expressed deep interest in adopting Japan's globally acclaimed civic education models to instill discipline, responsibility, and ethical values in Bangladeshi students. Furthermore, structural monitoring frameworks are being evaluated based on educational administrations in Thailand and Turkey to elevate field-level management to international standards.
The JICA delegation reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Bangladesh's curriculum development and teacher training. Additional Secretary Md. Mokhlesur Rahman and JICA Senior Representative Monikawaka Yaku were present at the session.
