Advance ticket sales for long-distance buses have begun ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha. From the morning of 8 May, Friday, various transport companies started selling tickets both at counters and through online platforms.

The Bangladesh Bus-Truck Owners Association stated that tickets for journeys from 21 May until the days leading up to Eid are being sold in advance. As a result, passengers can now collect tickets for various routes across the country from this point onward.

To reduce travel-related hassles during Eid journeys, the trend of purchasing tickets online is increasing. Currently, bus tickets can be booked from home through websites and mobile apps such as Shohoz.com, BdTickets, and Jatri.

Users can easily purchase tickets by visiting the websites or downloading apps from the Google Play Store and App Store. For this, an NID number and a mobile number are required.

To book tickets, passengers need to select the departure point, destination, and travel date, after which a search displays the list of buses, schedules, and fares.
After selecting the preferred bus and seat, the booking can be confirmed by providing passenger information.

Seats booked through online platforms are displayed in different colors, allowing passengers to easily choose available seats. After confirming a booking, payment must be completed within 30 minutes through e-banking or mobile banking. Once payment is successful, the ticket can be downloaded. Passengers can travel by carrying either a digital or printed copy during the journey.

Meanwhile, the Bus-Truck Owners Association stated that there is no scope for charging fares beyond those set by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA). The same fare structure will be applicable both online and at ticket counters.

The organization also noted that displaying the BRTA-approved fare list at every counter has been made mandatory, so that passengers can easily know the fares.
