Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) celebrated Independence and National Day 2026 through a series of events.
On Thursday, 26 March, the day’s activities began at dawn with the hoisting of the national flag at sunrise, accompanied by the rendition of the national anthem. This was followed by the laying of wreaths at the Shaheed Minar.
The Vice-Chancellor, deans, institute directors, department heads, other directors, office heads, as well as representatives from various halls, the teachers’ association, officers’ association, and employees’ association paid tribute to the martyrs by placing wreaths.
As part of the programme, wreaths were also laid at the graves of martyrs on the CUET campus, followed by ziarat and prayers.
In the absence of the Vice-Chancellor, the chief guest at the event was Acting Vice-Chancellor (routine duties) and Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Professor Dr. Mohammad Abu Kawsar. The event was conducted by Deputy Director (Public Relations) Mohammad Fazlur Rahman and Assistant Librarian Sharmin Sultana Toma.
On the occasion, special prayers and munajat were arranged at the central Jame Mosque for the eternal peace of the souls of the martyrs. Additionally, essay competitions were organized for university students by the Directorate of Student Welfare and for children and adolescents by the Staff Welfare Committee.
