Satellite Synergy: Starlink Support Strengthens GP–BSCL Backup
Network outages in rural areas due to fiber disruption or natural disasters are nothing new. To tackle this challenge, mobile operator Grameenphone has signed an agreement with Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) to deliver Starlink’s next-generation satellite internet service as a reliable backup link for corporate clients.
The agreement was disclosed on Wednesday, 19 November. Recently, at the GP House in Bashundhara, Dhaka, Grameenphone CEO Yasir Azman and BSCL Managing Director & CEO Dr. Muhammad Imadur Rahman signed the deal on behalf of their respective organizations.
Grameenphone’s Chief Business Officer Dr. Asif Naimur Rashid, BSCL General Manager (Admin & Procurement) Md. Golam Sarwar, General Manager (Sales & Marketing) Shah Ahmedul Kabir, and other senior officials from both organizations were present on the occasion.
Regarding the agreement, Grameenphone’s Chief Business Officer Dr. Asif Naimur Rashid said, “Through Starlink’s advanced satellite technology, B2B stakeholders—particularly those operating in remote energy fields, coastal or border areas—will benefit significantly. With uninterrupted connectivity, they will be able to enhance productivity and enjoy future-ready services.”
BSCL Managing Director & CEO Dr. Muhammad Imadur Rahman said, “Through this agreement, we aim to further strengthen Bangladesh’s digital infrastructure so that uninterrupted communication can be ensured even in geographically challenging areas for critical operations.”
