Nagad-DRU Best Reporting Award: Nurturing Noteworthy Narratives

Twenty-seven journalists from online, print, and electronic media have been honored with the Nagad-DRU Best Reporting Award 2025. The recognition was given for outstanding reports selected from 24 different categories.

On 16 November, the awards ceremony took place at the International Mother Language Institute auditorium in Segunbagicha, Dhaka, where the winners received their awards for the best reporting of the year.

The 27 exceptional reports were chosen for the top accolades, with four journalists jointly winning in two categories.

Among the winners, Salah Uddin Jasim of online newspaper JagoNews24.com was recognized for his investigative report on disputes over certificates following the death of a freedom fighter. Harun Ar Rashid of Dainik Kalbela received recognition in the Information and Communication Technology category for his report titled “Bandwidth Coming Through Illicit Channels”. Additionally, Md. Jasim Uddin of Dhaka Post.com was awarded for his report on the mental health of Rohingya children affected by deprivation and abuse.

Other awardees include Sazzadur Rahman (The Business Standard), Rafiqul Islam (The Daily Sun), M A Noman (Dainik Amar Desh), Ziadul Islam (Dainik Amader Somoy), Md. Shakhawat Prince (The Business Standard), Md. Shariful Islam (The Daily Star), Dipan Nandi (The Daily Star), Md. Abu Saleh Rony (Dainik Samakal), Md. Rahenur Islam (Sokalsandhya.com), Md. Shawkat Ali (Dainik Desh Rupantor), Ehsanul Haq Jasim (The Daily Sun), Md. Helimul Alam (The Daily Star), Shamsul Haq Mohammad Miraj (Dainik Kaler Kantho), Shah Md. Rashedur Rahman (DBC News), Abu Zahed Mohammad Selim (Masranga Television), Alamgir Hossain (Jamuna Television), Rajib Ghosh (DBC News), Md. Imdadul Haq (Channel 24), Md. Yusuf Ali (DBC News), Sushant K Sinha (Ekattor Television), Shahnaz Sharmin (Ekattor Television), Mehdi Azad Masum (Boishakhi Television), Moushumi Islam (The Daily Sun), and Hasan Arif (Dainik Rupali Bangladesh).

The ceremony’s chief guest was Bangladesh Government’s Economic Adviser, renowned economist Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed. Special guests included Nagad Board Chairman Qaiser Ahmed Chowdhury and Administrator Md. Motashim Billah, along with board members of Nagad Limited, prominent journalists, policymakers, and dignitaries from various sectors.

Welcome remarks were delivered by DRU’s Secretary Mainul Hasan Sohel, while the session was presided over by DRU’s President Abu Saleh Akon. The 10-member jury board was chaired by Shamsul Haq Zahid, Editor of the English daily Financial Express.

The awards were presented under the sponsorship of Nagad, the mobile financial service provider. Each winner received a certificate and a cash prize of 50,000 BDT.

Notably, Nagad Limited previously supported the DRU Best Reporting Award in 2021, reinforcing its commitment to fostering journalistic excellence.
