Japan has recently demonstrated the world’s fastest internet speed in an experimental setup, but in terms of real-world usage, it still lags behind global leaders. According to India TV News, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) currently holds the top position in mobile internet speed with an average of 546.14 Mbps, while Singapore leads in broadband internet with an average speed of 393.15 Mbps.

Researchers at Japan’s National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) have achieved a groundbreaking speed of 1.02 petabits per second (approximately 1,27,500 gigabits per second) using advanced fiber optic technology. This is nearly 30 million times faster than the average household internet speed in the United States.

Despite this revolutionary achievement, Japan — along with major economies like India, the United States, China, and South Korea — still does not feature among the top-ranking nations for fastest consumer internet service. While these countries have made significant improvements in telecom infrastructure, they remain behind in speed and service quality compared to global frontrunners.
