Trump Talks TikTok Timeline: Another Extension Expected

United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday hinted that the deadline for the sale of U.S. assets owned by the Chinese short-video app TikTok might be extended once again, Reuters reported.

Earlier in May, he had indicated that the June 19 deadline would be pushed back, citing TikTok’s role in aiding his campaign among young voters in the 2024 election.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said, “Probably yes, the deadline will have to be extended. It will likely require China’s approval, but I think we will get it. I believe President Xi will ultimately approve it.

This statement reaffirmed the Trump administration’s stance on increasing U.S. regulatory oversight of ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company.
