CUET Commemorates Independence Day with Solemn Ceremonies and Celebrations

Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) observed Independence and National Day with a series of events on Wednesday. The celebrations began at dawn with the hoisting of the national flag by CUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan, accompanied by the rendition of the national anthem.

Following the flag-hoisting ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor led a tribute at the university’s Shaheed Minar, where floral wreaths were laid in honor of the valiant martyrs of the Liberation War. Additionally, floral tributes were placed at the graves of the martyrs within the CUET campus, followed by prayers and a memorial service.

Several distinguished faculty members and officials were present, including Dean of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering Professor Dr. Sudip Kumar Pal, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology Professor Dr. A. H. Rashedul Hossain, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering Professor Dr. Ayesha Akhter, Director of the Directorate of Student Welfare Professor Dr. Md. Mahbubul Alam, Security Advisor Professor Dr. Ashutosh Saha, Additional Director of IQAC Professor Dr. Md. Sanaul Rabbi, President of the Teachers' Association Professor Dr. G. M. Sadikul Islam, and President of the Officers' Association Engineer Syed Mohammad Ikram, among others. The program was conducted by Deputy Director (Public Relations) Mohammad Fazlur Rahman.

To mark the occasion, the Directorate of Student Welfare organized an essay competition for students, while the Staff Welfare Committee arranged a similar contest for children. The campus was also adorned with vibrant decorative lighting to commemorate the day.
