Police Headquarters Launches Hotline Service to Combat Violence Against Women

The Police Headquarters has launched a 24-hour hotline service to combat violence against women. Three hotline numbers—01320002001, 01320002002, and 01320002222—will remain active for lodging complaints.

In a statement on Monday, the Police Headquarters announced the initiative. Meanwhile, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, stated that there are ongoing plans to introduce short codes 3333 and 333-3 to take effective measures against violence and sexual harassment of women.

The police statement further elaborated that the hotline service has been introduced to address various forms of violence against women, including physical abuse, harassment, offensive behavior, verbal abuse, eve-teasing, and sexual harassment.

Additionally, the Police Cyber Support for Women Facebook page remains active to provide legal support and protection to women facing cybercrimes.

The statement emphasized that alongside maintaining law and order and preventing crime, the Bangladesh Police follows a zero-tolerance policy against violence against women and children. It reaffirmed the police's commitment to taking strict legal action against perpetrators of such offenses.
