The Parliamentary Committee on Public Undertakings has sought an explanation from the relevant authorities regarding the reasons behind the recurring technical glitches in the aircraft carrying the Prime Minister. The sixth meeting of the committee was held on Monday, November 2, 2026, at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, presided over by Committee President and Chief Whip of Jatiya Sangsad Nurul Islam Moni. Alongside demanding an explanation, the meeting discussed determining accountability for irregularities in the procurement of aircraft and equipment by Biman Bangladesh Airlines and potential revenue losses due to IT system vulnerabilities.

The meeting was attended by committee members including Whip Mia Nuruddin Ahmed Opu, Whip Md. Aktaruzzaman Mia, Khandaker Abu Ashfaq, Mohammad Kaysar Ahmed, Biswas Jahangir Alam, Mohammad Najibur Rahman, and Mohammad Kamal Hossain.

During the meeting, the financial management, operational activities, and audit reports of Biman Bangladesh Airlines and the Civil Aviation Authority under the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism were reviewed. Emphasis was placed on enhancing transparency and efficiency, preventing wastage of public funds, eliminating irregularities, and settling long-standing audit objections. Furthermore, urgency was stressed in taking necessary steps to ensure the accountability of the concerned authorities.

Detailed information was requested regarding the total amount recovered against the raised audit objections, the outstanding amounts, and the number of individuals subjected to disciplinary actions. Importance was also placed on presenting time-bound action plans with evidence for each audit objection.

The committee recommended that Biman Bangladesh Airlines and relevant authorities take necessary measures to present detailed written explanations and required information on the raised issues at the next meeting.
