BNP Standing Committee member Professor Dr. Farhad Halim Donar has assured the swift implementation of the long-standing demand for 10th-grade pay scale for medical technologists and pharmacists. Speaking on their vital role, he noted that medical technologists and pharmacists play a crucial role in disease diagnosis, therapy, and overall healthcare delivery, including risking their lives to collect samples during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He made these remarks on Tuesday (October 6) at a discussion organized by the Medical Technologist Association of Bangladesh (M-TAB) at Abdus Salam Hall in the National Press Club.
Dr. Donar stated that it is disappointing that despite 17 years of continuous movement and previous authorities agreeing with the cause, the pay scale structure remains unrealized. He advised association leaders to remain vigilant regarding proper recruitment rules, filling vacant posts quickly, considering age waivers, and amending organograms to expand manpower.
Presided over by M-TAB President A.K.M. Musa Liton, the event was attended by Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) President Prof. Dr. Md. Harun Al Rashid, Secretary General Dr. Md. Zohirul Islam Shakil, and Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Director (Admin) Prof. Dr. Md. Jalal Uddin Mohammad Rumi, among others.
