JUST Kicks Off Interdepartmental Football Tournament

Reinforcing the essential balance between rigorous scientific research and holistic youth athletic development, Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) has kicked off its ‘Interdepartmental Football Competition (Men & Women) 2026’. Organized by the university’s Physical Education Department at the central sports ground, the event generated vibrant enthusiasm across academic departments.

According to university sources, the tournament was officially launched on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM. JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Eyarul Kabir inaugurated the meet as the chief guest, while Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Sheikh Mahmudul Hasan attended the ceremony as the special guest.

Delivering the opening address, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Eyarul Kabir emphasized that students must not remain confined solely to classrooms and research laboratories, noting that cultural and sports activities are vital for balanced cognitive development. He remarked that such sporting events strengthen mutual camaraderie, empathy, and sportsmanship among learners from diverse disciplines, while urging all participating teams to uphold discipline and fair play.

Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Sheikh Mahmudul Hasan stated that competitive games must be embraced with a positive and joyful mindset, underscoring the importance of accepting defeat with the same grace as victory. Reminding players that on-field opponents remain fellow peers, he highlighted JUST's strong competitive track record across university leagues, adding that the meet serves as a platform to scout elite football talent for upcoming varsity championships.

Chaired by Dr. Abhinu Kibria Islam, Director of the Physical Education Department, the opening event also heard addresses from Professor Dr. Md. Nasim Reza, Convener of the Organizing Committee, and Abdullah-Hel-Kafi, Deputy Director of Physical Education.

The ceremony brought together Professor Dr. Md. Sirajul Islam from the FMB Department, Proctor Dr. Md. Hamidur Rahman, Tapashi Rabeya Hall Provost Dr. Nazneen Nahar, Munshi Meherullah Hall Provost Dr. Abdur Rauf Sarkar, Bir Protik Taramon Bibi Hall Provost Dr. Farhana Yasmin, Assistant Director of Physical Education Uzzal Chandra Sutradhar, and physical instructors Md. Jahangir Alam and Md. Raihan Rakib, alongside faculty members and students. Assistant Director of Physical Education Md. Abdul Wahed conducted the session.
