High-level talks with JP-MIRAI explore structured employment pathways, language immersion, and ethical recruitment
Japanese Delegation Visits Daffodil to Expand Global Careers for Bangladeshi Engineers
- JP-MIRAI delegates visit Daffodil Smart City to align Bangladeshi ICT and engineering graduates with Japanese industries
- Over 300 students and officials attend career guideline seminar; talks explore a dedicated 'Japan Graduate Engineer Employment Pathway'
- Strategic focus placed on integrating Japanese language proficiency, cultural adaptation, and ethical overseas recruitment
Seeking to expand sustainable employment opportunities for Bangladeshi youth and integrate certified engineers and ICT professionals directly into Japan's mainstream industrial workforce, a high-level Japanese delegation visited Daffodil Group and Daffodil International University (DIU). The visit took place at Daffodil Smart City in Ashulia on Sunday, 20 September 2026, centering on market demand, cultural readiness, technical competencies, and ethical cross-border recruitment.
The visiting delegation comprised Kenichi Shishido, Board Member of the Japan Platform for Migrant Workers towards Responsible and Inclusive Society (JP-MIRAI), alongside Senior Program Officer Shinichi Okubo. During the visit, a comprehensive career seminar titled ‘Employment Opportunities in Japan: Pathways and Guidelines for Bangladeshi Graduates’ was organized, engaging approximately 300 students, faculty members, and institutional leaders.
Opening remarks were delivered by DIU Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammed Masum Iqbal, followed by the keynote session led by Kenichi Shishido. Shishido outlined Japanese workplace dynamics, employer expectations, legal protection frameworks, and the critical importance of transparent, inclusive hiring practices for foreign technical professionals. Concluding the session, Daffodil Group CEO Dr. Mohammad Nuruzzaman remarked, "Japan faces an acute demographic demand for skilled technical professionals, whereas Bangladesh possesses a dynamic, ambitious pool of young talent. Our mandate is to bridge this gap through structured language immersion, technical upskilling, cultural orientation, and direct employer integration."
Following the seminar, the Japanese delegation participated in an executive strategy meeting with the university's central leadership, including the Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Group CEO, and Registrar. Discussions focused on conceptualizing a formalized ‘Japan Graduate Engineer Employment Pathway’ designed to prepare and place qualified graduates from DIU’s engineering and computing faculties into Japanese enterprises.
Daffodil’s specialized recruiting arm, the Global Recruiting Agency (GRA), already manages operational pipelines under Japan's Technical Intern Training Program (TITP) and Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) frameworks. Building on this operational foundation, the current initiative seeks to transition Bangladeshi workforce mobility beyond semi-skilled roles toward high-value, graduate-level engineering and technology careers.
During their campus tour, the delegates paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, toured the Japan Study Center and campus innovation hubs, enjoyed a student-led cultural presentation, and planted a commemorative tree on the grounds.
