Experts Highlight Electronic Security and Risk Management

The three-day 'International Security Expo Bangladesh' and 'International Occupational Safety, Health and Fire Expo Bangladesh 2026' are underway at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka to connect local security entrepreneurs with global tech leaders. Jointly organized by technology service provider I-Station Limited and Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS), the exhibition will continue until Saturday, September 19.

On the opening day, a seminar titled 'Strengthening Electronic Security in Bangladesh: Challenges, Technology, and Action Plan' was held at the Navaratri Hall of ICCB. Moderated by Zakir Uddin Ahmed, Secretary General of Safety Awareness Foundation, industry experts and organizational representatives shared their insights on key safety topics.

A K M Masum Ul Alam, Faculty Member at Bangladesh University of Health Sciences, highlighted the importance of occupational safety, health, risk management, and safety culture in workplaces. He stated that alongside following health protocols, establishing effective risk management and a strong safety culture is essential for ensuring a safe work environment.

Brigadier General Engr. Ali Ahmed Khan, PSC (Retd.), President of Safety Awareness Foundation, stressed fire risk prevention and emergency readiness. He noted that structured risk management, regular safety evaluations, and coordinated emergency preparedness can significantly reduce the risk of accidents and damages across installations.

Architect Md. Iqbal Habib, Vice President of Safety Awareness Foundation, underscored the need for safe urban planning. He remarked that to build liveable cities, public safety, fire security, and risk evaluation must be prioritized at every phase of architectural design and urban development.

Syed Almas Kabir, former President of BASIS and CEO of MetroNet Bangladesh, discussed the integration of technology in safety management, stating that traditional systems should be augmented with smart monitoring and tech-driven solutions through joint initiatives between the technology and industrial sectors.

Lieutenant Colonel M. A. Azad Anwar, PSC, Director (Training, Planning and Development) of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Directorate, emphasized inter-agency collaboration. He noted that strengthening coordination among government bodies, industrial units, architects, engineers, security experts, and educational institutions is vital for workplace safety.

Faisal Ahmed, Safety Fire & Emergency Response Specialist, called for proactive risk mitigation, adding that building a safer Bangladesh requires identifying hazards and initiating prevention measures before disasters strike, rather than solely reacting after an incident occurs.
