International Conference 'RAAICON 2026' Kicks Off at JUST: Experts Focus on Ethical AI & Robotics

The two-day 5th IEEE International Conference on Robotics, Automation, Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things (RAAICON 2026) got underway in a grand manner at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST). Jointly organized by the IEEE Bangladesh Section and IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Bangladesh Chapter, and hosted by JUST, the conference is taking place on September 18 and 19 in a hybrid format (both in-person and online).
On Friday morning, JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Yeadul Kabir officially inaugurated the conference as the chief guest at the Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose Academic Building of the university. Professor Dr. Mohammad Faruque Hossain, Treasurer of JUST, attended the ceremony as the special guest.
Researchers and representatives from 14 countries, including the USA, UK, Australia, France, Singapore, and Malaysia, are participating in this edition. Out of a total of 517 research papers submitted, 145 were selected for presentation following a rigorous review process. The paper acceptance rate stood at approximately 28%, reflecting the high quality and academic standards of the conference.
In his chief guest address, JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Yeadul Kabir stated that robotics, automation, AI, and IoT are no longer isolated fields; rather, their convergence is transforming industries, healthcare, agriculture, and education. Stressing that technological progress must serve humanity, he emphasized that researchers and academics must ensure technology development remains ethical, inclusive, and aligned with societal needs.
Speaking as the special guest, Treasurer Professor Dr. Mohammad Faruque Hossain noted that higher education institutions hold the primary responsibility of transforming knowledge and research into meaningful innovations that directly benefit people. The keynote sessions highlighted ethical technology adoption, data security, and affordable digital solutions for achieving Sustainable Development Goals in developing countries.
Joining virtually as a keynote speaker, Ram Chandra Palsaniya, Senior Product Manager at Applied Materials Inc., California, presented a slide-based session on AI-driven automation for predictive maintenance and minimizing tool downtime in semiconductor manufacturing.
Organizing Chair Prof. Dr. Engr. Imran Khan, Organizing Co-Chair Prof. Dr. Biplab Kumar Biswas, General Chair Prof. Dr. Celia Shahnaz, IEEE Bangladesh Section Chair Prof. Dr. Md. Imamul Hasan Bhuiyan, and Technical Program Co-Chair Prof. Dr. Sheikh Md. Rabiul Islam also addressed the audience. Moderated by Lecturer Anika Anjum (BME Dept.) and Lecturer Zahedul Islam (EEE Dept.), the session brought together local and international scholars and students. The conference is expected to play a pivotal role in exchanging knowledge and developing tech-driven solutions.
