The prepaid meter vending system of West Zone Power Distribution Company Limited (WZPDCL) has been restored after a technical issue disrupted its digital vending operations. The Power Division said all restrictions related to prepaid meter recharging have now been removed.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, September 15, the Power Division said the logical connection between WZPDCL’s prepaid vendor server and application server was disconnected at 1:13pm on September 14.

The disruption caused customers in different WZPDCL service areas to face difficulties completing prepaid meter vending transactions.

After the issue was identified, WZPDCL’s technical expert team conducted extensive testing and troubleshooting. The prepaid system was restored at 6:30am on September 15.

According to the Power Division, all limitations related to prepaid meter recharging have now been resolved.

WZPDCL apologised to all affected customers for the temporary inconvenience caused by the unexpected technical problem.

The company has also taken necessary measures to ensure that similar technical issues can be resolved more quickly in the future.
