Academic excellence, agricultural research orientation, and extracurricular distinctions were celebrated at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) during a fresher reception and award ceremony at Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy Hall. A total of 72 residential students received accolades across academic merit, competitive job placements, and sports on Thursday, 20 August 2026, according to a press release.

The evening event welcomed the incoming undergraduate batch of the 2025-26 academic session (Level 1, Semester 1). During the program, 28 top-ranking students across academic terms received merit honors. Additionally, 14 former residents were awarded for securing positions in banks and civil services, while 30 students were recognized for athletic performance.

Speaking as chief guest, newly appointed Student Affairs Adviser Professor Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam Sarder stated that academic results combined with active learning and social accountability shape complete professionals. He urged newcomers to remain focused on studies and assured that the university administration is actively upgrading residential infrastructure and academic environments.

The ceremony was presided over by Hall Provost Professor Dr. Md. Bazlur Rahman Molyah. Special guests included Proctor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Alim, Sonali Dal President Professor Dr. Md. Hammadur Rahman, General Secretary Professor Dr. A K M Adham, Higher Education and Research Committee Coordinator Professor Dr. Md. Ruhul Amin, and House Tutor Abu Hanif.

BAU Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Senior Joint Convener A M Sowaib, Joint Conveners Md. Shahin Alam, Md. Nurnobi Hossain, Md. Tayef Mahmud, Md. Mizbaul Haque Miju, along with other leaders and residential students, attended the reception. Dr. Bazlur Rahman Molyah reviewed the hall’s administrative progress over the past two years in his presidential address.
