‘World Friends Korea’ IT Online Training Program Concludes at UITS

Dhaka, August 10, Monday: The closing and certificate distribution ceremony of the three-week international '2026 World Friends Korea (WFK) IT Online Training Program' at the University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) was successfully held. The intensive online training, project making, and innovative competition officially concluded on Monday, August 10, at a ceremony held in the university's conference room.

This training program was organized through the initiative of UITS's Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and in collaboration with South Korea's National Information Society Agency (NIA). A four-member student volunteer team from the world-renowned research institution Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), located in Daejeon, South Korea, conducted the training activities from July 13 to August 3, 2026.

Professor Dr. Md. Abu Hasan Bhuiyan, Vice-Chancellor of UITS, was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony, and Professor Dr. Siraj Uddin Ahmed, the university's Treasurer, delivered a speech as a special guest.

The event was moderated by Engineer Md. Safayet Hossain, Director of UITS IQAC. Senior faculty members and officials, including UITS Registrar Mohammad Kamrul Hasan and Md. Al-Imtiaz, Associate Professor and Head of the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department, were present at the ceremony.

A total of 72 students from two UITS batches participated in the training program. Key areas of focus in the training included: Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), Python Programming, Vibe Coding, modern AI-assisted software development, and the practical application of other emerging digital technologies.

Upon completing the three-week course, students applied their acquired skills to submit various team-based, tech-driven innovation projects. KAIST's volunteer team, acting as judges, evaluated projects based on creativity, problem-solving capability, and technical merit, awarding prizes in four categories.

All 72 students who successfully completed the course received international training certificates.

The KAIST volunteer team, who served as instructors, included: Jinhwa Kim (김진화) — Bio and Brain Engineering Department, Hyunji Huh (허현지) — Industrial Design and School of Computing, Hisang Shin (신희상) — Materials Science and Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Departments, and Michaet Jung (정미채) — Electrical Engineering Department.

During the closing ceremony, speakers emphasized that such international training is crucial for students to remain competitive globally, given the rapid development of artificial intelligence and modern digital technologies in today's world. UITS authorities expressed special thanks and gratitude to World Friends Korea (WFK), NIA, KAIST, the instructors, teachers, and participating students for the successful organization of the event.
